Mirror, Mirror

In 2016 I saw a local posting for an antique ladies dressing table with mirror for $30 and I jumped on it. I’ve always loved old houses and antique furniture but never had a piece for my own house. So my dutiful husband and his cousin with the pickup truck went to get it for me and brought it home. Now, this was 4 years ago before I put any energetic boundaries in place or knew to cleanse pre-owned objects before bringing them into my house. I loved my new table and mirror and placed it in my bedroom where it serves as part dresser, part vanity, and part seasonal altar. In the days and weeks that followed, I found that brushing my hair in front of the mirror I entered a sort of trance. I began to hum softly a tune I’d never heard before. I parted my hair differently and twisted the hair in front on both sides before pinning it back.

The mirror’s original owner was still connected to it and was enjoying remembering brushing and dressing her hair in it, through me. She was showing me how to do my hair like she had. I got extremely lucky in that she has positive energy, does not leave the mirror or otherwise communicate with me in my house. She’s just in the mirror, smiling, brushing her hair and sharing that womanly sentiment of grooming with me whenever I’m using the mirror for that purpose.

In conclusion, be sure to energetically cleanse any pre-owned item BEFORE bringing it into your house. I usually place the item on my porch outside and use smoke medicine to clear it while stating loudly that any energy or spirit connected to it is cleansed and cleared and MUST leave it NOW. I visualize the object glowing with a bright white or golden light. I will then use the smoke to outline the doorway of my house and say any energy that is not mine nor for my highest good may NOT pass through this door.

Then it is safe to bring the new treasure inside!
