Site Reading: 1780’s Homestead

I had the recent pleasure of doing a site reading for a client who grew up in a home built around 1780. The picture below is of the main fireplace, and the strongest spirit to come through in the reading was very connected to this hearth, spending much of her days and nights by it.

As they were growing up, my client remembered feeling scared a lot of the time, with a certain spot next to the door to the dirt basement feeling particularly charged, so much so that they would run past it to climb the stairs to their room every time. In fact, I felt this fear when the pictures of the house were first sent to me. I had to closely examine it to determine that it was part of my clairsentience, and connected to the client’s experience rather than a spirit from the house.

The first spirit I saw was a young woman, mid-to-late teens or early 20’s. She had such a warm and loving energy. She's connected to the house but may have been a worker there rather than a family member. Her face, hands and clothes were ashy and she would have tended the fire, cooked, taken the ashes out, etc. I heard the name Sally, which was also commonly used as a nickname for Sarah. She acted like a big sister in spirit to my client, protecting them as best she could from the other spirits there who were confused or stuck. My perception of the energy of the house was that it's just a bit clogged there. A lot of unhealed human crap and traumas big and small which collected over the centuries. It could have felt like static electricity or other physical feelings, cold spots, and an awareness that you weren't alone.

My sketch of Sally

In the photo of the dining room, I saw a wounded man, using a crutch with a bandage on his foot and around his head, a militia man. If there was banging of cabinets, doors, drawers etc., it may have been this spirit. He was angry at the loss of mobility and how much harder everyday life and its chores became after being injured. He was not malevolent but his energy would have felt unsettling due to the confusion/frustration.

The guest bedroom: I saw an elderly woman next to the fireplace wearing a knit shawl and bonnet. An A name, Agatha or Agnes. Crotchety and confused but again, not harmful. Just kind of a sourpuss.

In the client’s bedroom I didn't see anything but Sally communicated that she often sat with them or watched over them while they slept.

I got the sense that the property changed hands a lot, it didn't stay in one family and so there is a thick energy atmosphere that has just collected there over the years. Sensitive inhabitants may experience headaches or other physical symptoms. Anger/frustration out of nowhere. Big emotional blowups that are never talked about again.

This was a really interesting reading for me, I would have loved to walk around there physically if it wasn’t so far away from Vermont, however what I did pick up on just goes to show how we can be affected by the accumulation of centuries of energy imprints. My client is now working on accepting their perception through the clairsenses rather than trying to shut it out as they did in childhood. They opened up to their childhood home and said they could feel the sadness that was mixed into the horsehair plaster walls…I found that poetic and thought provoking. What kind of energy is your home holding in its walls?
